Today we went to Lamington National Park south of Brisbane. It is in the mountains and very tropical. These huge trees were classified as eucalypts until they were recently reclassified. We made a huge hike. It was 15km (10miles) that was listed as "for people with a high degree of fitness and experience." It went down and then up very steep and followed a river along the way. In parts we had to seach for the trail or climb over huge fallen trees. Needless to say, we had the park to ourselves. For me the highlight was the huge Brush Box trees but we also saw tons of parrots, bush turkeys, and little wallabys. I think Wolfgang would have loved the hike - it was an endurance test. Lamington far exceeded my expectations.
